The Buccaneers are the first team in NFL history to host the Super Bowl. Also, the Chiefs are looking to become the first repeat winner in the Super Bowl since the 2003-2004 New England Patriots.

Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers last February at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. When the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, it was their first Super Bowl win in 50-years.

The win by the Chiefs came almost a year after Brady’s New England Patriots defeated the Chiefs in the 2019 AFC Championship Game. Brady found Mahomes II after the game and they had a discussion.

“It was important because it showed I was doing things the right way,” Mahomes said while reflecting on the conversation. “As a young quarterback in this league, you show up early and you try to put in the time and put in the work. …

“Him saying that he respected what I was doing and how I was playing on the field and the type of person I was, it kind of put a stamp on me that I needed to go in and even be better to get to the Super Bowl.”

If the Chiefs win, Andy Reid will be the oldest coach to win two straight Super Bowls. Reid is 62.

“I’m still part of the ‘Geritol Crew’ and we are a little bit older, and there is an experience that comes with that and I guess they say wisdom with age,” Reid said this week. “By chance, a few of the older guys have gotten to this point. I attribute that to good players and then a little bit of experience there.”

If the Buccaneers win, Bruce Arians will be the oldest coach to win a Super Bowl at 68.

This is the second Super Bowl in Buccaneers history. They defeated the Oakland Raiders in the final game of the 2002 season at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California.

The Chiefs are 2-1 in the final game of the season. This will be their fourth Super Bowl appearance.

Tampa Bay leads the all-time series 7-6. Before the 27-24 loss on November 29th, 2020 in Tampa, Florida, the Buccaneers had won five straight in the series from 1999 through 2016.

Also, the Buccaneers have scored 267 points in the series. The Chiefs have scored 260 points.
