The Detroit Lions have signed free agent wide receiver Tyrell Williams. He has agreed to a one-year deal with the team.
He could receive up to $6.2 million with this deal.

Williams was just released by the Las Vegas Raiders one week ago. He missed the 2020 season with a shoulder injury.

This is going to be a gamble for the new Lions culture led by GM Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell. If he’s going to be healthy, then he’ll give the team a deep threat.
This is a safety net for the Lions in case that they are not able to re-sign Marvin Jones. He is slated to become a free agent.
Jones will be one of the top free-agent wide receivers on the market. He led the Lions this past season despite being in a lackluster offense.

In his career in the NFL, he has made 69 appearances, including 49 starts. Williams has had 197 receptions for 3,181 yards and 23 touchdowns.
In his lone season with the Raiders in 2019, Williams made 14 appearances, including 12 starts. He had 42 receptions for 651 yards and six touchdowns.
The Lions are Williams’ third NFL team. Before signing with the Raiders, he spent time with the Chargers organization.
