The Kansas Jayhawks have fired head football coach Les Miles late Monday night. His departure comes on the heels of two new reports that came to light last week while he was coaching the LSU Tigers.

The allegations back to 2013. He allegedly had inappropriate behavior towards women when he was the Tigers head coach.

Miles allegedly kissed one of the women that he missed treated. In 2013 when the school knew about the allegations, then-athletic director Joe Alleva recommended firing Miles.

However, he remained in the role. On Friday night when a new report came to light, the Jayhawks put Miles on administrative leave.

The school said that his departure was “mutually agreed upon,” but that means he was fired.

“This is certainly a difficult day for me and for my family. I love this university and the young men in our football program,” Miles said in a statement. “I have truly enjoyed being the head coach at KU and know that it is in a better place now than when I arrived. To our student-athletes, I want you to remember that you came to play for KU and earn a degree here. So, I implore you to stay and build on what we started and do all of the things we talked about doing together. There is a bright future for all of you and for KU Football.”

Mike DeBord will serve as interim head coach for the time being. The school will search to find a permanent replacement.

DeBord previously served as head coach of the Central Michigan Chippewas from 2000 through 2003. He joined the Jayhawks staff as offensive coordinator in February.

“I am extremely disappointed for our university, fans, and everyone involved with our football program,” Jayhawks athletic director Jeff Long said. “There is a lot of young talent on this football team, and I have no doubt we will identify the right individual to lead this program. We will begin the search for a new head coach immediately with an outside firm to assist in this process. We need to win football games, and that is exactly what we’re going to do.”
