The National Hot Rod Association begins its season this weekend. One of the sports’ biggest stars is dealing with a loss in his family.
Motorcraft/Quick Lane Funny Car pilot Bob Tasca III has announced that his grandmother has passed away. An official cause of death has not been announced yet.
“I’m sad to announce the passing of our grandmother and matriarch, Josephine Tasca,” the Funny Car pilot said in a Facebook post. “Her life was dedicated to supporting her family. She will live on in all of the hearts of everyone she touched. Heaven got another angle for sure. I love you, Noni Jo… 💔”

Tasca III is on the entry list to compete this weekend at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida. At this time, there is no indication if Tasca III will elect to sit out the race due to his grandmother’s death.
If he does compete, he’s going to be competing with a heavy heart. No funeral arrangements have been announced at this time.
We have reached out to members of the Tasca Racing team that we know to see if Tasca will be competing this weekend. At this time, we have not heard back from his crew members.

While it may be difficult for him to compete at the Gatornationals, athletes have competed following close relatives’ deaths in the past. This allows them to escape the pain that they are suffering from for several hours before they have to focus on the passing of their relative once again.
