Blues re-sign Binnington to six-year extension

The St. Louis Blues have re-signed goaltender Jordan Binnington. He has received a six-year extension.

His new contract is worth up to $36 million. This new agreement will have a $6 million average per season.

He was in the second year of an $8.8 million deal. Binnington agreed to the two-year deal following the Blues Stanley Cup run that culminated in Lord Stanley’s visiting St. Louis.

The 27-year-old has been a member of the Blues organization since being a third-round draft pick in the 2011 NHL Draft. He has been on the team for the past four seasons.

This season, he has appeared in 19 games, including 19 starts. He is 9-6-3. Binnington has a 2.69 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.

In his four-year career, Binnington has appeared in 102 games, including 99 starts. He has a 63-24-11 record.

The Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada native also has a 2.38 goals-against average. Plus, he also has a .915 save percentage.

Binnington has been the Blues’ primary goaltender during the 2020-21 season. His backup Ville Husso has gone 5-2-1 during his time in the net.
