Keyshawn Johnson’s oldest child Maia has passed away

ESPN personality Keyshawn Johnson has announced that his daughter Maia has passed away. No age was given.

An official cause of death has not been announced yet. She was one of four children that Johnson fathered.

“It is with incredible sadness that I have to share the news about the passing of my beautiful Daughter Maia,” Johnson said in a post on Twitter. “Maia, as my firstborn child, has been the joy of my, and her Mother Shikiri’s, life. She came into our lives just as we were both coming of age as adults and has been a constant beloved presence for both of us. We are heartbroken and devastated by her loss. Shikiri, Maia’s siblings, our family, and me appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Johnson will take a leave from his ESPN duties. He is co-host of Keyshawn, JWill, and Zubin on ESPN Radio from 6-10 am EST.

Before joining ESPN, Johnson played for several teams in the NFL. He was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 NFL Draft.
