Bass Pro Shops-sponsored driver Martin Truex Jr. won the Instacart 500 on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Phoenix Raceway, Avondale, Arizona. This is the first time that the New Jersey native won in Arizona.
This is Truex Jr.’s 28th career NASCAR Cup Series win. He has two wins the past two seasons.

“Just an awesome job by everybody, (crew chief) James (Small), all the pit crew guys fixing it, just really solid,” Truex Jr. said. “At the beginning of the race I thought we were going to run 15th or so. Man, I just really can’t believe it. I’m kind of speechless. This feels pretty amazing.
“Phoenix has been a tough one for us. I wish it was November and I was in the final four. Just so thankful and proud of everyone at JGR, everyone who makes this possible.”
He finished the race in a little more than three hours. Truex Jr. won by 1.698 seconds.
All five Cup Series events this season has had a new driver win. Michael McDowell, Christopher Bell, William Byron, and Kyle Larson also have wins this season through the first five weeks of the season.
