According to a social media post on the Funny Car Chaos Facebook page, two-time NHRA Champion Del Worsham is going to make his debut with this organization at the Nitro Madness at the Motorplex. This event – which is the first annual event – will take place at the Texas Motorplex on Friday and Saturday, March 26th and 27th, in Ennis, Texas.
This event will feature Funny Cars and Outlaw Fuel Altereds. This will be the first time that these two will be competing at the same event.
Worsham – who is the co-crew chief on Alexis DeJoria’s Funny Car – will be competing in the Worsham Family Racing Funny Car that is based out in Orange County, California. His father Chuck will do the tuning of the Funny Car.
He’ll get his first qualifying attempt on Friday, March 26th at 7 pm CST. He’ll have another attempt at 9:30 pm CST.
The following day, he’ll get another qualifying attempt at 2 pm CST. The Funny Car eliminations will begin at 5 pm CST.
In his racing career, Worsham has 33 national event wins in Top Fuel and Funny Car. Worsham won the Top Fuel Championship in 2011 with Al-Anabi Racing.
Then, in 2015, he won the 2015 Funny Car Championship with Kalitta Motorsports. After his Championship, he stepped away from Kalitta Motorsports, as a driver, to rejoin his family’s operation for the 2017 season.
For the past several seasons, he has served as a crew chief for Shawn Langdon and DeJoria.
