Kerry Hyder Jr. is going from one rival to another. He remains within the NFC West.
After playing for the San Francisco 49ers, he had agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks. He has agreed to a three-peat contract to join the Seahawks.
He can earn up to $16.5 million in this contract. There’s a chance that he could earn an additional million to make $17.5 million from the deal.
It’s technically a two-year contract worth $6.5 million. The third-year of the contract is worth $10 million, according to Pro Football Talk.
However, the third-year is not guaranteed. The Seahawks can void this year in his contract.
The 29-year-old will be joining his fifth NFL team. He has only played more than one season for one team.
Hyder Jr. spent three seasons with the Detroit Lions. If he plays out his contract, he’ll also play three seasons with the Seahawks.
He has also played for the New York Jets, the Dallas Cowboys, and the San Francisco 49ers. Last season, he had a career season with the 49ers.
He has appeared in 56 games, including 16 starts. Fourteen of the 16 starts came with the 49ers.
He has had 108 tackles, including 25 tackles for a loss and 43 quarterback hits. Also, he has had 18.5 sacks, including 8.5 sacks in 2020.
Hyder Jr. also has three fumble recoveries and one pass deflection.
