NFL will have 17 regular season games in 2021

At least for the 2021 season, the NFL is moving away from its traditional 16 game schedule. This upcoming season, they’re adding another game to the schedule.

The league will expand to a 17-game schedule. An extra game will be added to the end of the season.

As a result of the extra game, teams will only be responsible for playing in three preseason games. The fourth preseason game has become meaningless in recent years.

The loss of the extra preseason game means that players will have less time to perform to earn a job in the league.

This coincides with the new TV packages that several networks signed with the league recently. Last March, the league signed a new CBA that mentioned a 17-game was forthcoming.

At first, the players were not willing to participate in another game without getting additional perks.

Having another game will be good for the teams in terms of revenue. However, there could be drawbacks.

Sadly, it’s another chance for players to suffer significant injuries. These gladiators risk their bodies every time they take the field to perform for the fans.

Due to the additional game, the Super Bowl will be pushed back. Instead of being the first Sunday of February, it’ll now be the second Sunday in the month.
