Capco pilots go 1-2 in final Top Fuel Atlanta ladder

Capco Contractors Top Fuel Dragster pilots were dominant on Saturday. They are the No. 1 and No. 2 qualifiers at the Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia.

Billy Torrence is the No. 1 qualifier, as the Kilgore, Texas native went 3.815 seconds at 323.43 mph. This is Torrence’s fourth career No. 1 qualifier.

“These yellow (No. 1 qualifier) hats are easier to come by than those winner hats, but I’ll take this one,” the older Torrence said.

His son and three-time Top Fuel Champion Steve Torrence is the No. 2 qualifier. The new father went 3.817 at 323.66 mph.

Scrappers Racing Top Fuel Dragster pilot Mike Salinas is the No. 3 qualifier. The California native went 3.841 at 317.05 mph.
