Longtime NASCAR driver Eric McClure has passed away. He was 42.
An official cause of death has not been announced yet. His fiancée announced his death on Sunday.
“We are saddened to learn of the passing of former driver and owner Eric McClure,” NASCAR said in a statement. “NASCAR extends its deepest condolences to Eric’s family and friends.”

In his long career, he made 288 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts from 2003 through 2016. He had one top-10 finish in his career in that series, which came in 2013.
In the DRIVE4COPD 300 on February 23rd, 2013, McClure finished eighth at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
He also made three NASCAR Cup Series starts. Two of the starts were at Talladega, while the other race was at Las Vegas.

“The family of Eric Wayne McClure, former NASCAR driver, announces with great sorrow his passing on Sunday, May 2, 2021,” his family said in a statement. “They would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this very difficult time.”
