By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher Matt Smith Racing teammates went head-to-head for the final Atlanta Wally. Scotty Pollacheck was able to beat his boss for the 40th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals Wally. The Oregon native went 6.921 at 198.35 mph to claim the Wally at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia. Matt Smith went red with an -0.001. “This whole team did so well with two bikes in the final round, and Matt is the man,” said Pollacheck, who jumped to second in points, just three behind Smith. “He gave me one there because mine bogged down in the finals, but it’s going to be a big celebration tonight. This was awesome and it’s just a great team.” Pro Stock Motorcycle has had three separate winners this season. Smith and Ryan Oehler also have a win this season. Before Sunday, Smith held a 14-5 advantage over Pollacheck in prior events. The North Carolina native also had a 2-0 advantage over his teammate in the previous final rounds. This is Pollacheck\’s first win of the season. It is his second win of his career, as his first win came at the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA U.S. Nationals last September.
