The NHRA has announced the addition of the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals back onto the schedule. Instead of taking place during their traditional Father’s Day weekend, the event has moved to a new date.

This year, the event will be held from October 15th through 17th at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tennessee. With the change, the new date will be the seventh race in the Countdown to the Championship.

The fall race will come after the national tour visits the Texas Motorplex for the NHRA FallNationals. It’ll be the following weekend.

This will be one of three national events that start in October.

Besides the addition of the Thunder Valley Nationals back onto the schedule, the sanctioning body announced that the Virginia NHRA Nationals has been postponed. This is the third postponement of a national event so far this season.

The NHRA cited restrictions as the reason why the event would not be held in May. The event may be made up at a later date when the restrictions by the Democratic state lessens.

Unfortunately for months, Republican states have been open and Democratic states have been locked down.

In addition to Virginia, the first national event in Pomona was postponed. And the national event in Chandler, Arizona will not be held this year due to the restrictions.
