Denmark’s Christian Eriksen collapsed on pitch, taken to hospital

Denmark soccer player Christian Eriksen has collapsed on the pitch. Eriksen collapsed during the 43rd minute in the Euro 2020 game against Finland.

Erickson received CPR on the field in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was then transferred to a local hospital.

“Following the medical emergency for Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET,” UEFA said in a statement. “The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilized”.

The Denmark and Finland game was briefly postponed. Denmark officials are now saying through a statement that the game will resume at 2:30 pm EST.

The players reportedly requested that the game resume following a positive diagnosis on Eriksen.

The 29-year-old has played for the Denmark National Team since 2010. He has also been a member of Inter Milan since the 2020 season.

“Moments like this put everything in life into perspective,” UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin said in a statement. “I wish Christian a full and speedy recovery and pray his family has strength and faith. At these times, the unity of the football family is so strong and he and his family carry with them the good wishes and prayers of everyone.
