Sprint Car driver Caleb Couch has passed away

Sprint Car driver Caleb Couch has passed away. No age was given at the time of his death. But we were later informed that he was 17.

Couch was competing on Saturday at a race at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas. During the event, he was involved in an accident and the vehicle caught on fire.

He was stuck in the vehicle for several minutes, before being removed from the race car. Couch was transported to Parkland Burn Center in Dallas, Texas.

Several days later, he succumbed to his injuries.

“I just wanted to update everyone,” Madison Couch said in a Facebook post. “Unfortunately, Caleb sustained unrecoverable injuries to his brain. At this time, we want to thank everyone who reached out & all the endless support he received. Funeral arrangements will be posted as soon as we find out. Continue to keep my family in your thoughts. This is a very tough loss #calebstrong”

Superbowl Speedway was hosting their weekly classes on Saturday. They also hosted the IMCA ModaLites.

“We have just received the news that Caleb Couch has passed away,” Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series said in a Facebook post. “Please keep the Couch family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.”

No information has been provided at this time on when his funeral services will be.
