Nittany Lions defeat Badgers by six points in season-opener

The No. 19 Penn State Nittany Lions defeated the No. 12 Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday. The Nittany Lions won 16-10 over the Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. 

With the win, the Nittany Lions improved to 1-0 on the season. The Badgers fell to 0-1. 

Badgers quarterback Graham Mertz went 22 of 37 for 185 yards. He had two interceptions. 

Chez Mellusi had 31 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown. Danny Davis III had eight receptions for 99 yards. 

Nittany Lions quarterback Sean Clifford went 18 of 33 for 247 yards. He had one touchdown pass. 

Noah Cain had eight carries for 48 yards and a touchdown. Jahan Dotson had five receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown.

Both teams were shut out in the first half. Then, combined to score 26 points in the second half. 

Clifford hit Dotson for a 49-yard touchdown reception. Cain also scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown. 

Jordan Stout also made a 24-yard field goal. 

Mellusi scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown for the Badgers. Collin Larsh also made a 43-yard field goal.
