Bell was in his third season at the school. He was 2-23 during his tenure.

This season, he guided the team to a 1-8 record, before his departure. His firing comes after the team was defeated by the FCS’ Rhode Island Rams 35-22 on Saturday.

Alex Miller has been named the team’s interim head coach. The Minutemen’s alumnus, who graduate in 2007, was the team’s run game coordinator and offensive line coach.

Bell’s last win with the program came on Oct. 9th in a 27-13 win over winless Connecticut Huskies at McGuirk Alumni Stadium.

After the win, the Minutemen have been defeated 135-42 in the losses to the Florida State Seminoles, Liberty Flames, and the Homecoming loss to the Rams.

Miller will guide the Minutemen against another FCS school this Saturday. The team hosts the Maine Black Bears on November 13th.

The team then ends their seasons with road games against the Army Black Knights and the New Mexico State Aggies.

A national search has begun to find a new leader for the 2022 season.
