The LSU Tigers had to make a big splash with their coaching hire. The belief was that the school was going to hire Jimbo Fisher.
He has a relationship with athletic director Scott Woodward. However, Fisher, who was believed to be the favorite for the job, wanted to remain at Texas A&M.
This left the school scrambling to find their new leader. The school is expected to hire Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly as their new head coach on Tuesday.

The 60-year-old had been leading the Fighting Irish since the 2010 season. This season, he became Notre Dame’s all-time winningest coach when he passed Knute Rockne.
With the Fighting Irish, Kelly went 113-40. While he was winning on the field, he was one of the lowest-paid coaches in terms of salary at less than $3 million.
There is already speculation on social media from reporters that say his new deal with the Tigers is north of $100 million. This would be a massive pay increase for Kelly, who guided the team to four straight seasons, where the team had 10 or more wins.

He is taking over a program that went 6-6 this season. Former head coach Ed Orgeron coached his final game with the team on Saturday, which was a win over Fisher’s Aggies.
Kelly is 284-97-2 as a head coach. Besides coaching the Fighting Irish, he also was a head coach with the Cincinnati Bearcats, Central Michigan Chippewas, and the Grand Valley State Lakers.
