The Philadelphia Eagles have promoted Brian Johnson as their new offensive coordinator. This will be his first offensive coordinator position in the league.
Johnson replaced the man, he worked under for the past two seasons. Shane Steichen was the Eagles offensive coordinator in 2021 and 2022.
Following their Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Steichen was named the Indianapolis Colts head coach.

Johnson is taking over an offensive attack that will likely undergo changes next season. Last season, the offensive attack scored 477 points.
The Eagles had the third-best scoring attack during the regular season, as they averaged 28.1 points per game. Quarterback Jalen Hurts finished the MVP race behind Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Johnson was considered for multiple offensive coordinator positions around the league. However, he ultimately decided to remain with the Eagles.
Under Steichen, Johnson was the Eagles quarterbacks coach.
Before being hired by the Eagles, the former Utah Utes quarterback had been a college coach since 2010. He spent one season as the Florida Gators offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2020.
He also was the Gators quarterbacks coach in 2018 and 2019.

Johnson was the Houston Cougars offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2017. From 2014 through 2016, he was the Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterbacks coach..
He spent the 2010 through 2013 seasons at his alma mater. He spent the first two seasons in 2010 and 2011 as the Utes quarterbacks coach.
Johnson was then promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2012 and 2013.
