The Washington Commanders have hired Kliff Kingsbury as their new offensive coordinator. He has agreed to terms with the team.
This comes a short time after the Las Vegas Raiders failed to reach an agreement with Kingsbury. Reports suggested that the Raiders had named Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator before things fell apart. We were one of the media companies that reported it after national media reported it.

Kingsbury returns to the NFL with this move. And he is projected to have a young quarterback to work with.

The Commanders are likely to draft either Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels. Whoever they draft, the team hopes that they get a franchise pick. It is believed that Caleb Williams will be drafted by the Chicago Bears with the No. 1 overall pick.
The team has the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Before coming to the Commanders, Kingsbury spent the 2023 season with the Southern California Trojans. He was their offensive analyst and quarterbacks coach.
Kingsbury was the Arizona Cardinals head coach from 2019 through 2022. He was 28-37-1 during his four-year tenure in Arizona.
The noted offensive mind has worked with Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield with the Texas Tech Red Raiders during his tenure as head coach. He also mentored Kyler Murray after being the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

According to NFL.com, the Commanders have not had an offense better than 23rd in scoring since the 2017 season. Despite the quarterback question mark, the team does have some talented weapons in Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson.
Plus, Sam Howell has performed well before he faded late in the season, as he led the league with 21 interceptions.
