The third round of the 2024 Masters at Augusta National Golf Club delivered drama, resilience, and moments of brilliance as Scottie Scheffler surged to the top of the leaderboard. Scottie Scheffler, the 2022 Masters champion, showcased his mental toughness despite a rollercoaster round. Starting strong with birdies on two of the first three holes, Scheffler climbed to 8-under early. Collin Morikawa (-6): Precision Personified
Collin Morikawa played one of the cleanest rounds of the day, carding a 3-under 69 to move into second place at 6-under. Known for his exceptional iron play, Morikawa navigated Augusta’s treacherous greens with precision and poise. He avoided major mistakes and capitalized on scoring opportunities, including birdies at holes 2, 8, and 15.
Morikawa shared his thoughts after the round: “I felt really comfortable out there today. My focus was on hitting greens and giving myself chances. Tomorrow is going to be exciting—I’m ready for the challenge.”
Max Homa (-5): Quiet Consistency
Max Homa delivered a steady performance in Round 3 to secure third place at 5-under. Though he didn’t produce any jaw-dropping highlights like Scheffler’s eagle or Morikawa’s pinpoint approach shots, Homa’s consistency kept him in contention. His round included four birdies and two bogeys.
