Golfer McIlroy and wife Erica get a divorce after seven years

Golfer Rory McIlroy has filed for divorce from his wife Erica. McIlroy filed for divorce in Florida.

This comes after seven years as a married couple. At press time, it is not known why they are seperating.

TMZ Sports said that they have reached out to the parties for comment. However, at this time, they have not heard anything back.

McIlroy met Erica in 2012 as she was working a Ryder Cup event. He credited her with helping him receive a police escort, which helped him avoid missing his tee time.

At the time, McIlroy was dating tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. However, in 2014, the duo became romantic following McIlroy and and Wozniacki ending their engagement.

The former couple has been private with their relationship. However, in 2017, they were married. She has been at the golf course supporting him throughout his career during the time they’ve been together.

They had one child together, who was born in 2020. The child’s name is Poppy Kennedy McIlroy.
