Gotham FC wins 2-1 over Angel City FC as Lavelle and Sheehan scores

NJ/NY Gotham FC defeated Angel City FC on Saturday. Gotham FC won 2-1 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California. 

With the win, Gotham FC improved to 9-4-3 on the season. Angel City FC fell to 4-3-9 following the loss.

This was Gotham FC’s second win over Angel FC this season. Both match ups happened to be a 2-1 win.

Their previous win came at home on June 8th.

The win ended Gotham FC’s two-game winless streak. They suffered a draw to the Seattle Reign FC on June 30th. 

They were defeated 2-0 to the Washington Spirit. 

This was Gotham FC’s first win since they defeated the San Diego Wave 2-1 on June 19th. 

Rose Lavelle gave Gotham FC a 1-0 lead. She scored in the 16th minutes off of an assist from Crystal Dunn. 

Late in the first half, Delanie Sheehan scored. She scored in the 40th minute off an assist from Ella Stevens. 

Gotham FC received three yellow cards in the game. Katie Stengel received a yellow card in the 90th + 7-minute mark.

Mandy Freeman also picked up a yellow card in the 67th minute. Nealy Martin received a yellow card in the 13th minute. 

Angel City FC goalkeeper DiDi Haracic had seven saves. She allowed the aforementioned two goals. 

Gotham FC goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger made one save in the game. She also allowed one goal.
