According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard will be limited to begin training for the new season. The report did not say how long he’ll be limited.

The Clippers will start their 2024-25 season on October 23rd against the Phoenix Suns. However, the team kicks off their preseason schedule on October 5th against the Golden State Warriors.

“Clippers star Kawhi Leonard underwent a procedure on his knee in the offseason, sources tell me and @LawMurrayTheNU,” Charania said on X. “The franchise said today Leonard will be limited to strengthening his knee to start Clippers training camp, but team officials are optimistic about his progress.”

Leonard was limited to 68 games last season. He started every game that he played in.

The 33-year-old averaged 23.7 points per game. He also averaged 6.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game.

Leonard may get more changes to score this season in Tyronn Lue’s system. He will be one of two stars on the Clippers as James Harden re-signed with the team in the off-season.

Paul George — who was part of the team last season — departed the three-headed monster to join another three-headed monster with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Leonard was the highest-scoring Clippers player last season. George was second with his 22.6 ppg average.

Harden, after his blockbuster deal with the 76ers, averaged 16.6 ppg.

The 68 games last season by Leonard were the most games that he has played in for almost a decade. During the 2016-17 season, he appeared in 74 games.
