Dodgers shut out Padres in NLDS Game 4 with 8-0 win

The Los Angeles Dodgers have forced a winner-take-all Game 5. The Dodgers shut out the San Diego Padres 8-0 on Wednesday night at Petco Park in San Diego, California.

Now, with the winner-take-all scenario, the series is tied at 2 games apiece. The winner-take-all game is scheduled for Friday at 8:08 pm EST.

Whichever team wins this game will face the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series. The Mets advanced to the NLCS with a win over their rivals, the Philadelphia Phillies.

The shutout by the Dodgers was the first one in this series. It also snapped their two-game losing streak to the Padres.

In the top of the seventh inning, Gavin Lux hit a home run to deep right center. Lux’s 389-foot home run also allowed Will Smith to score.

Earlier in the inning, Tommy Edman hit a sacrifice fly. This allowed Max Muncy to score to make it 6-0.

In the top of the third inning, Smith hit a home run to deep center field. His 451-foot home run allowed Muncy to score and put the Dodgers up 5-0.

Mookie Betts singled to right center in the top of the 2nd inning. Kiké Hernández scored on the play as the Dodgers went up 3-0.

Shohei Ohtani also singled to right center. Lux scored to make it 2-0.

In the top of the first inning, Betts hit a home run to deep center field. This 424-foot home run put the Dodgers up 1-0.

Dodgers pitcher Evan Phillips received the win. After being the fifth pitcher out of the pen, Phillips went 1 1/3rd innings and shut down the Padres offensive attack.

Manager Dave Roberts went with a true bullpen game.

Padres pitcher Dylan Cease received the loss. He allowed three runs on four hits over 1 1/3rd innings pitched.
