The New York Yankees are back in the American League Championship Series. They defeated the Kansas City Royals, 3-1, in Game 4 of the American League Divisional Series at Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
With the win, the Yankees won the series 3-1. They are set to face the winner of the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Guardians.
Their winner-take-all Game 5 will occur on Saturday at 8:08 pm EST at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. The winner will then face the Yankees with the chance to advance to the World Series.

If the Yankees face the Guardians, they were 2-4 against them this season. All six meetings came in April.
All time, the Guardians are 893-1138 against the Yankees.
If the Yankees face the Tigers, they were also 2-4 against them this season with games being played in May and August. Detroit was 2-1 at home against them but 0-3 at Yankee Stadium.
All time, the Tigers are 949-1,074 against the Yankees. The Tigers won the last two games in the series. They won 4-0 over the Yankees on Saturday, August 17th. One day later, they won 3-2 in 10 innings.
Before those two games, Detroit had lost four straight in their series this season.
Royals’ Vinnie Pasquantino doubled to deep left-center in the bottom of the sixth inning. Bobby Witt Jr. scored to cut the lead to 3-1.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Yankees went up 3-0. That’s when Giancarlo Stanton singled to right field that scored Aaron Judge.
One inning earlier, Gleybor Torres singled to right center. Alex Verdugo scored to make it 2-0.
In the top of the first inning, Juan Soto singled to right center. Torres scored to make it 1-0.

Yankees ace Gerrit Cole picked up the win. Cole allowed one run on six hits over seven innings.
Luke Weaver was credited with the save. He pitched one inning of work and struck out two batters.
Royals pitcher Michael Wacha received the loss. He allowed two earned runs on six hits over 4 2.3 innings.
