A Pennsylvania high school football game was canceled on Thursday due to a shooting. The shooting took place, according to police around 2:30 pm EST.
This ultimately led to the cancellation of the Downington-Coatesville football game.

Police believe, according to their investigation, that this was a targeted shooting. At press time, one person has been arrested, according to Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe.

“This is not some school shooting or someone trying to shoot up a school bus, or a drive-by,” de Barrena-Sarobe said. “This was a targeted event where the actors were targeting someone getting off the bus.”
The person arrested is a 17-year-old, according to the police. The authorities are still seeking additional individuals, who played a part in the crime.
The 17-year-old is charged with aggravated assault.
As the bus stopped at Hope Avenue between Charles and Madison Streets, police say two of the four people began to shoot at the bus. Two separate weapons were used in the targeted attack.
Eight shots were fired, police said. However, just two shots hit the bus. One bullet hit the front grille.
The second bullet hit the windshield, police said.
Nobody — who was on the bus — was injured by the gunfire.
“My message to those three people is, ‘get ahead of this,'” de Barrena-Sarobe said. “Go to your families, go to your religious leaders here in Coatesville, and come into the Coatesville police department and turn yourself in.
“We have an idea of where this investigation is going, and this is your chance to put the community at ease. Because there is not a single child that should ever feel like their school bus is not a safe place.”
Coatesville High School is 5-2-1 this season. Downingtown East is 4-3-1.
