Broncos’ Sean Payton gets a win over his former employer, Saints, in New Orleans

Sean Payton and some of his coaching staff got some revenge against their former employer. The Denver Broncos defeated the New Orleans Saints 33-10 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Broncos have improved to 4-3 on the season. Denver has won four of their last five games after going 0-2 to begin the season.

The Saints dropped to 2-5 overall. New Orleans has dropped five straight games.

Their last win came in a 44-19 blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys on September 15th.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen is 25-51 as a head coach with the Las Vegas Raiders and the Saints. He will be on the hot seat if the team continues to struggle.

Payton was the former Saints head coach before Allen, his former defensive coordinator, took over. He was their leader from 2006 through the 2021 season.

With the franchise, Payton went 152-89, including a 9-8 playoff record. During the 2009 season, he guided the team to their line Super Bowl win.

There are 22 former Saints coaches, front office, and players with the Broncos now. There are 14 on the coaching staff and front office, while eight are current players.

Broncos quarterback Bo Nix went 16 of 26 for 164 yards.

Javonte Williams had 14 carries for 88 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Troy Franklin had five receptions for 50 yards.

Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler went 25 of 35 for 172 yards.

Kendre Miller had six carries for 36 yards. Cedrick Wilson Jr. had six receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown.

The Broncos outscored the Saints 17-7 in the second half. Williams scored on a five-yard rushing touchdown. Will Lutz also made a 38-yard field goal.

Rattler was sacked by Ja’Quan McMillian on a play for a 14-yard loss. This resulted in Rattler fumbling the ball. Cody Barton recovered the fumble and then returned it for a 52-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

Saints’ Jake Haener hit Wilson Jr. for a 12-yard touchdown reception.

Denver led 16-3 at halftime. Williams scored on an eight-yard rushing touchdown.

Lutz also made three field goals. He first made a 46-yard field goal. Then, he made a 35-yard field goal. Finally, he made a 52-yard field goal.

Saints’ Blake Grupe made a 35-yard field goal.
