Iamaleava, Tennessee celebrate in Neyland Stadium after win over No. 7 Crimson Tide

The No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers defeated the No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. The Volunteers won 24-17 over the Crimson Tide at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.

With the win, the Volunteers improved to 6-1 on the season. The Crimson Tide fell to 5-2.

Alabama leads the all-time series. However, Tennessee has won the last two games at Neyland Stadium.

The Crimson Tide leads the all-time series 59-39-7.

Before the 2022 season, Tennessee had not won in the series since the 2006 season when they won 16-13 on October 21st, 2006. The Volunteers have now won two of the last three games in the series.

Since Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel took over in 2021, the teams have split the series. The teams are 2-2 in their last four games. 

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe threw an interception to seal the game. The pass was caught by Tennessee senior defensive back Will Brooks.

The Volunteers then ran out the clock.

Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava went 14 of 27 for 194 yards. He also had one touchdown pass and one interception.

He briefly left the game before coming back.

Dylan Sampson had 26 carries for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Bru McCoy had six receptions for 80 yards.

Milroe went 25 of 45 for 239 yards. He had one touchdown pass and two interceptions.

Jam Miller had 11 carries for 31 yards. Ryan Williams had eight receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Tennessee outscored Alabama 24-10 in the second half. Sampson scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown.

He also scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown. Iamaleava hit Chris Brazzell II for a 16-yard touchdown reception. Max Gilbert also made a 41-yard field goal.

Crimson Tide’s Justice Haynes scored on a seven-yard rushing touchdown. Graham Nicholson made a 35-yard field goal.

Alabama led 7-0 at halftime. Milroe hit Williams for a five-yard touchdown reception.
