The Cleveland Browns are slowly working running back Nick Chubb back into action. He saw his first action on Sunday in nearly 400 days.
Chubb had been sidelined for 398 days before returning against the Cincinnati Bengals. He had 11 carries for 22 yards and a touchdown at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio.

He also had one reception for 10 yards. Chubb was limited in the second half.

“I was so happy for him to get a touchdown his first game back,” QB Jameis Winston said to clevelandbrowns.com. “I know how much the fans love him. I heard the ‘Chubb, Chubb,’ and we need more of that. I’m happy for him to get his feet back and I’m excited to see what he’s going to do moving forward.”
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said it was planned to give Chubb limited snaps.

“I think it was good for him to get tackled,” Stefanski said. “Hasn’t been tackled yet so, just get him fit his pads and those type of things. I thought it was good.”
Before playing on Sunday, the last game he played in NFL action came during the 2023 season. That’s when he played in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 26-22 loss.
In the game, Chubb had 10 carries for 64 yards before being injured.
With Chubb working his way back, the Browns are going to take it easy with him. And as a result, it is going to be baby steps as they ramp up his snaps to a full-time back once again.
It is going to be weeks before Chubb will be the Browns’ featured back again, which may not even come until late November or early December.
