Hoosiers make it 8-0 with win over Huskies

The No. 13 ranked Indiana Hoosiers have won their eighth consecutive game to begin the season. The Hoosiers defeated the Washington Huskies 31-17 on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.

The Hoosiers under first-year head coach Curt Cignetti improved to 8-0 on the season. According to Fox Sports College Football, the Hoosiers are 8-0 to begin their season since 1967.

College GameDay was even hosted at the University of Indiana before the game.

The Huskies — who were the runner-up to the Michigan Wolverines in last year’s College Football Playoff National Championship game — fell to 4-4 under first-year head coach Jedd Fisch.

Washington has dropped their last two games.

Hoosiers quarterback Tayven Jackson went 11 of 19 for 124 yards. He had one touchdown pass and one interception.

Jackson had replaced starter Kurtis Rourke, who had thumb surgery and missed the game. He is expected to be back next week.

Justice Ellison had 29 carries for 123 yards and one touchdown. Omar Cooper Jr. had one reception for 42 yards and a touchdown.

Huskies quarterback Will Rogers went 19 of 26 for 202 yards. He had two interceptions.

Jonah Coleman had 19 carries for 104 yards. Jeremiah Hunter had four receptions for 60 yards.

The Hoosiers outscored the Huskies 14-10 in the second half. Ellison scored on a five-yard rushing touchdown.

Jackson scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown.

Huskies’ Demond Williams Jr. scored on an eight-yard rushing touchdown. Grady Gross also made a 23-yard field goal.

Indiana led 17-7 at halftime. Jackson hit Cooper Jr. for a 42-yard touchdown reception.

Rogers was intercepted by D’Angelo Ponds, who returned it for a 67-yard pick-six. Nicolas Radicic also made a 19-yard field goal.

Huskies’ Giles Jackson scored on a six-yard rushing touchdown.
