According to the Blue Hens, the team is now 8-3 against the Great Danes. The team has won the last two games in the series and improved to 5-3 all-time in the series at Delaware Stadium.
Blue Hens quarterback Nick Minicucci went 18 of 27 for 173 yards. He had three touchdown passes.
“Nick finally was back healthy 100%,” Blue Hens head coach Ryan Carty said. “And so that kind of (was) our intention four weeks ago, when I don’t want to say it was (the) Sacred Heart (game) when he went out, was to go with him until Zach got 100%. And Zach just stepped up for us and really played really tough for the last four weeks.
“And he gets to the point now where Nick’s 100%. And you saw that, obviously, he’s capable of taking us down the field and winning football games for us in this conference. And so we felt pretty comfortable with it.”
Marcus Yarns had 13 carries for 127 yards and one touchdown. Jojo Bermudez had six receptions for 46 yards.
This was Yarns’ ninth career game, where he had a rushing and receiving touchdown. It is the third time this season that he has achieved this feat.
Plus, this was his sixth career game with 100 or more rushing yards, according to Delaware SID Brendan Thomas.
“Well, I’ll start by saying injuries are part of the game in football,” Yarns said. “So, we just got to keep fighting battles day in, day out, week in, week out. So, for me, it was just staying ready, and making sure that I’m always available when I am.
“You know what I mean? And just going up there and giving it my all. You know, like I said last time, it’s people in the locker room and outside the locker room that really has a lot of confidence in me and my potential to play. So I go out there and showcase it.”
Great Danes quarterback Myles Burkett went 14 of 28 for 208 yards. He had one touchdown pass and one interception.
Faysal Aden had ten carries for 57 yards. Seven Mcgee had three receptions for 77 yards.
Both teams scored seven points in the second half. Great Danes’ Jojo Uga scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter.
Minicucci hit Yarns for a 30-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Delaware led 21-7 at halftime. Yarns scored on a 69-yard rushing touchdown.
“It’s always great to start with a touchdown on the first play of the game,” Carty said of Yarns’ 69-yard rushing touchdown. “But how important is it to kind of keep in mind when that happens that you still got a long way to go and one play (is) not going to settle the outcome. I mean, obviously, we’ll take that outcome on every week that we can get one.

“Obviously, the first play being so powerful and explosive, it just really helps you get confidence, kind of set the tone for the day. And obviously, I think everybody on the sideline and in the stadium can feed off of that and, hopefully, continue that as we go. And as long as you’re playing clean after that, it’s just going to do great things for you, and make sure you’re charged with that.”
Minicucci hit Yarns for a 13-yard touchdown reception. Minicucci also hit Ja’Carree Kelly for a 16-yard touchdown reception.
The touchdown by Kelly was his first collegiate touchdown.
Great Danes’ Burkett hit Caden Burti for a 13-yard touchdown reception.
