The New Orleans Saints have fired head coach Dennis Allen. He was in his second season as their head coach before his departure.
No interim head coach has been named at press time. Allen is the second head coach to be fired this season.
The New York Jets fired Robert Saleh in October.
The Saints have been a disaster this season. They are 2-7 overall.
The team won their first two games of the season. Since then, they’ve lost seven straight games.
This includes a loss to the woeful Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Panthers won 23-22 after Chubba Hubbard scored the game-winning touchdown with 2:24 left in the game.
Allen is 26-53 in six seasons as a head coach. Before being hired by the Saints as their head coach, he spent four seasons as the Oakland Raiders head coach.
Last year’s 9-8 record was his only winning record as a head coach.
Allen was the team’s defensive coordinator before the promotion to head coach. He replaced Sean Payton after he stepped down.
Payton and his new team, the Denver Broncos, defeated Allen’s Saints 33-10 on Thursday Night Football on October 17th.
