Patriots claim DE Ngakoue off waivers from Ravens

One day after being released by the Baltimore Ravens, DE Yannick Ngakoue had been claimed off waivers by the New England Patriots.

In order to make room on their 53-man roster, the Patriots have released linebacker Raekwon McMillan.

Ngakoue was signed to the Ravens practice squad in September. Several weeks later, he was added to the team’s active roster.

He had signed a one-year deal with the Ravens. It was worth $1.2 million.

Now, the Patriots are responsible for the remainder of his contract. Then, he’ll become a free agent at the end of the season.

The veteran pass rusher will now be on his seventh NFL team. He had a stint twice with the Ravens.

He also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings.

In his nine-year career, Ngakoue has appeared in 128 games, including 115 starts. He has had 229 tackles.

He also had 72 tackles for a loss and 146 quarterback hits. Ngakoue has had 70.5 sacks.

The veteran rusher has also had two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. He’s also had 21 forced fumbles.

Ngakoue has had three fumble recoveries, including one returned for a touchdown. He’s also had 13 pass deflections.
