The Nebraska Cornhuskers have promoted Dana Holgorsen to offensive coordinator. He had been recently hired as an offensive analyst.
Holgorsen replaces Marcus Satterfield and Glenn Thomas, who were coming-offensive coordinators. Satterfield is also the tight ends coach.
Satterfield will remain on the staff, according to head coach Matt Rhule, and focus primarily on tight ends.
Thomas was also the quarterbacks coach.
“This is not about next year,” Rhule said. “This is about right now.”
While the move has been announced through the media, the Cornhuskers will have Satterfield and Thomas listed as co-offensive coordinators.
Rhule said that he hopes Holgorsen will remain on their staff in 2025 as their offensive coordinator.
This move comes just days before the Cornhuskers play the USC Trojans on Saturday on FOX. The Cornhuskers have struggled lately, dropping their last three games.
Holgorsen is known for his air raid offense. Rhule would have to let Holgorsen run his system.
The 53-year-old Holgorsen was last an offensive coordinator in 2010 with the Oklahoma State Cowboys when he served as OC/Quarterbacks coach.
He also served as offensive coordinator with the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 2005 through 2007. And the Houston Cougars in 2008 and 2009.
Holgorsen has also been a long time head coach with the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Cougars, going 92-69. He went 61-41 with the Mountaineers.
Then, he went 31-26 as the Cougars head coach.
