John Robinson, former college football and NFL head coach, has passed away

Former College Football and NFL head coach John Robinson has passed away. He was 89.

An official cause of death has not been determined yet. However, according to the USC Trojans, they said that he passed sway due to complications from pneumonia.

Robinson is a College Football Hall of Fame coach. He was inducted in 2019.

He was 75-68 as an NFL head coach. Robinson was also 132-77-4 as a college football head coach.

As an assistant coach, Robinson was a three-time National Champion. Hs was also a two-time Rose Bowl champion.

In 1978, as a head coach, he guided the Trojans to the national championship.

He served as the Trojans head coach from 1976 through 1982. And again from 1993 through 1997.

As the Trojans head coach, he went 104-35-4.

Robinson also served as the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels head coach from 1999 through 2004. He was 28-42 at the school.

He also served as the Los Angeles Rams head coach from 1983 through 1991. With the Rams, he was 75-68, including a 4-6 postseason record.

Robinson guided the Rams to the NFC Championship game twice. In 1985, they lost to the Chicago Bears in the NFC Championship Game.

Then, in 1989, the Rams lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

In 2010, he was the San Marcos High School (California) Defensive Coordinator. In 1975, he was the Oakland Raiders running backs coach.

Robinson was the Trojans offensive coordinator from 1972 through 1974. He also served as an assistant coach with the Oregon Ducks from 1960 through 1971.

The former coach also worked in two Athletic Departments. He was the UNLV Athletic Director for the 2002-03 school year.

Then, he was a senior consultant with the LSU Tigers from 2019 through 2021.
