Central Michigan wins first rival game with Western Michigan at home since 2010

The Central Michigan Chippewas football team defeated the Western Michigan Broncos on Tuesday night. The Chippewas won 16-14 over the Broncos at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. 

Central Michigan improved to 4-7 with the win. The team also improved to 2-5 within the Mid-American Conference.

Western Michigan fell to 5-6 with the loss. They are now 4-3 in conference play.

This was the first time that the Chippewas have won in the series at home since 2010. That’s when they won 26-22 in Mount Pleasant. 

Western Michigan has dominated the series since that time. The Broncos have won 10 times, while the Chippewas won five times. 

The win by Central Michigan snapped the Broncos two-game win streak in the series. 

After Tuesday night’s game, the Broncos lead the all-time series. They are 53-41-2 in the series. 

Central Michigan quarterback Jadyn Glasser went 8 of 17 for 140 yards. He had one interception. 

Marion Lukes had 15 carries for 93 yards. Solomon Davis had three receptions for 73 yards.

Western Michigan quarterback Hayden Wolff went 13 of 23 for 126 yards. 

Jalen Buckley had 12 carries for 50 yards and one touchdown. Kenneth Womack had four receptions for 47 yards. 

Western Michigan outscored Central Michigan 14-3 in the second half. Tate Hallock returned an interception for a 78-yard touchdown. Buckley also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Chippewas kicker Tristan Mattson made a 30-yard field goal.

Central Michigan led 13-0 at halftime. B.J. Harris scored on a six-yard rushing touchdown. 

Mattson made two field goals. He first made a 36-yard field goal. 

Then, later in the second quarter, he made a 47-yard field goal.
