The Colorado Buffaloes have found their replacement for Shedeur Sanders. The son of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is expected to enter the 2025 NFL Draft after this season.

This may cause Sanders to stick around in Boulder, Colorado moving forward. Due to his success in his second season, Sanders’ name has been mentioned for the Dallas Cowboys job.

It would not be surprising that the Cowboys fire Mike McCarthy at the end of the season — if they do not do it during the tail end of the regular season. But Sanders recently said that he will remain at the school. He said that he “truly loves it here.”

Lewis is the 2023-24 Gatorade Georgia football player of the year. According to MaxPreps, this season he has thrown for 2,842 yards. He has thrown 40 touchdown passes and just four interceptions.

“It’s big for me, just coming in after Shedeur, seeing what he’s done at Colorado, and what he’s turned it into,” Lewis said on McAfee’s show. “It’s definitely a blessing to get to this position, coming in after him with his dad.

“Coach Prime has always said the best man is going to play. That’s really what I wanted, was to be able to compete … I don’t have much fun sitting on the bench, so I want to come to where I have a chance to play.”

Lewis will have to compete for the starting job next season. He may be the favorite to get the job.

The Buffaloes’ rival, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, used a highly touted freshman as their starter this season. Dylan Raiola had a good start to the season but has struggled as of late.

“Julian loves to compete; he’s extremely excited for the challenge that lies ahead in college football,” TC Lewis, Julian’s father, said. “What ‘Coach Prime’ and Colorado provide for him in regards to development and a path to play are exceptional.”
