The Detroit Lions are thankful to have the woeful Chicago Bears as their opponent on Thanksgiving. Horrible clock management gave the Lions the win.

The Lions won 23-20 over the Bears at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

It was the Lions’ first Thanksgiving Day game win since 2016. That’s when they won 16-13 over the Minnesota Vikings on November 24th, 2016.

The Lions are now 38-45-2 on Thanksgiving dating back to 1934. The Bears fell to 20-16 on Thanksgiving.

The Bears had the ball and were driving with 33 seconds left. And they had one timeout.

The clock was running as Caleb Williams snapped the ball with six seconds left. And it was an incomplete pass to end the game.

Earlier in the drive, the Bears converted a fourth down. However, Cole Kmet was called for a 10-yard pass interference penalty on a 4th and 4 play.

Then, on the very next play, on a 4th and 14, the Bears were bailed out when Kindle Vildor was called for a 29-yard pass interference.

Williams had an incompletion that was intended for D.J. Moore. Following a timeout, there was a penalty for an illegal use of hands.

Then, Williams was sacked by Za’Darius Smith. Then, the botched ending happened.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus is going to have a lot of pressure on him going forward if he makes it through this weekend. He may be fired.

Either interim offensive coordinator Thomas Brown or defensive coordinator Eric Washington would be the favorites to take over the job on an interim basis.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff went 21 of 34 for 221 yards. He had two touchdown passes.

David Montgomery had 21 carries for 88 yards. Amon-Ra St. Brown had five receptions for 73 yards.

Williams went 20 of 39 for 256 yards. He had three touchdown passes.

D’Andre Swift had 11 carries for 39 yards. Moore had eight receptions for 97 yards and one touchdown.

Bears outscored the Lions 20-7 in the second half. Their streak of three consecutive shutouts in the second half was snapped with Chicago’s comeback.

Williams hit Keenan Allen for a 31-yard touchdown reception. Williams also connected with Allen for a nine-yard touchdown reception.

The rookie — who was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft in Detroit — hit Moore for a 31-yard touchdown reception.

Lions’ Goff hit Sam LaPorta for a one-yard touchdown reception in the second half.

Detroit led 16-0 at halftime. Goff hit LaPorta for a 3-yard touchdown reception.

Lions kicker Jake Bates made three first-half field goals. He first made a 30-yard field goal.

Then he made a 36-yard field goal. And he finally made a 48-yard field before halftime.
