Henigan sets AAC passing record as Memphis beats No. 17 Tulane

The Memphis Tigers ruined the No. 17-ranked Tulane Green Wave’s Senior Night on Thanksgiving. The Tigers won 34-24 over the Green Wave at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

With the win, the Tigers improved to 10-2 on the season. They ended their regular season with a 6-2 American Athletic Conference play record.

The Green Wave fell to 9-3 overall. This was their first conference loss, as they fell to 7-1 overall.

This was a devastating loss for the Green Wave. The loss knocked them out of hopes of playing in the 12-team College Football Playoff. 

Plus, they’re no longer in contention for hosting the American Athletic Conference Championship next weekend. 

Tigers quarterback Seth Henigan went 22 of 29 for 218 yards. He had three touchdown passes. 

Henigan became the American Athletic Conference all-time passing leader during the contest. He had 13,928 when the record was broken.

Mario Anderson Jr. had 24 carries for 177 yards and one touchdown. Roc Taylor had seven receptions for 96 yards. 

Green Wave quarterback Darian Mensah went 21 of 33 for 317 yards. He had two touchdown passes and one interception. 

Shaadie Clayton-Johnson had two carries for 29 yards. Mario Williams had seven receptions for 130 yards and one touchdown. 

The Tigers outscored the Green Wave 17-14 in the second half. Greg Desrosiers Jr. scored on a 29-yard rushing touchdown. 

Anderson Jr. scored on a 47-yard rushing touchdown. Tristian Vandenberg made a 23-yard field goal.

Tulane’s Arnold Barnes III scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown. Mensah hit Shazz Preston for a three-yard touchdown reception.  

Memphis led 17-10 at halftime. Henigan hit Desrosiers Jr. for a 17-yard touchdown reception. The duo also connected on a 25-yard touchdown reception. 

Vandenberg also made a 28-yard field goal. 

Green Wave’s Mensah hit Williams for a seven-yard touchdown reception. Patrick Durkin made a 44-yard field goal.
