Penn State and the winner of Notre Dame and Georgia will face each other in the Orange Bowl. This game will be played on Thursday, January 9th, at 7:30 pm EST.

This was the first meeting between Boise State and Penn State. The Nittany Lions are now 8-0 in the Fiesta Bowl.

Penn State is the only team with eight wins in this Bowl game. They have three more wins than the Arizona State Sun Devils, who are second all-time with wins, as they are 5-1.

Boise State suffered its first Fiesta Bowl loss. They are now 3-1 in this Bowl game.

The Nittany Lions did this without their stud defensive player Abdul Carter, who was injured early and did not return. His health will be monitored before the next game.

The Broncos did not execute enough to win the game. They missed two field goals, had numerous interceptions, Ashton Jeanty fumbled twice, and too many penalties.

Penn State quarterback Drew Allar went 13 of 25 for 171 yards. He had three touchdown passes.

Kaytron Allen had 17 carries for 134 yards. Tyler Warren had six receptions for 63 yards and two touchdowns.

Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen went 23 of 35 for 304 yards. He had one touchdown pass.

Ashton Jeanty had 30 carries for 104 yards. Matt Lauter had four receptions for 96 yards and one touchdown.

Jeanty was held to the lowest rushing yardage of the season. He did not break Barry Sanders’ college football record.

Sanders had 2,628 rushing yards during the 1988 season. This season, the Heisman Trophy runner-up was just 28 yards shy, as he had 2,601 yards.

The Nittany Lions outscored the Broncos 14-7 in the second half. Allar hit Warren for a 13-yard touchdown reception.

Nicholas Singleton also scored on a 58-yard rushing touchdown.

Broncos’ Madsen hit Lauter for a 53-yard touchdown reception.
