At least 15 people have passed away, according to media reports, and numerous people were injured as an individual claiming ISIS support went on the murderous attack in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.

The game was initially scheduled to be played on New Year’s Night at 8:45 pm Eastern.

This is Notre Dame’s first win against Georgia, as they are now 1-3 in the series all time. The Bulldogs had won three straight in the games spanning from 1981 through 2019.

The 1981 game also came on the Sugar Bowl. The Bulldogs won 17-10 on January 1st, 1981.

The Fighting Irish will now play the Penn State Nittany Lions in the College Football Playoff semifinal next. The Capital One Orange Bowl game was originally scheduled to be played on Thursday, January 9th, 2025, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

At press time, it’s not clear if the game will be pushed back.

Fighting Irish quarterback Riley Leonard went 15 of 24 for 90 yards. He had one touchdown pass.

Leonard also had 14 carries for 80 yards. Jordan Faison had four receptions for 46 yards.

Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton went 20 of 32 for 234 yards. He also had one touchdown pass.

This was Stockton’s first college football start after he replaced Carson Beck in the SEC Championship game win over the Texas Longhorns. Beck suffered a UCL injury and needed surgery, thus missing this game.

Trevor Etienne had 11 carries for 38 yards. Arian Smith had one reception for 67 yards.

Notre Dame outscored Georgia 10-7 in the second half. Jayden Harrison scored on a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Kicker Mitch Jeter also made a 47-yard field goal.

Bulldogs’ Stockton hot Cash Jones for a 32-yard touchdown reception.

The Fighting Irish led 13-3 at halftime. Leonard hit Beaux Collins for a 13-yard touchdown reception.

Jeter also made two field goals. He first made a 44-yard field goal. Then he made a 48-yard field goal.

Georgia’s Peyton Woodring also made a 41-yard field goal.
