According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jacksonville Jaguars are meeting with Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen today. This is his first in-person interview with the Jaguars brass.
Schefter is reporting that Coen if all goes according to plan, would be the next Jaguars head coach. This is an interesting development after the Jaguars had just fired GM Trent Baalke on Wednesday.

Coen had agreed to a new contract with the Buccaneers to be the highest-paid coordinator in the league. That left the Jaguars scrambling.
However, if Coen is announced later on as their new head coach, it’ll be his first head coaching job in the league.
He’s the favorite to take over a team that struggled in 2024 under former head coach Doug Pederson. The Jaguars went 4-13 this past season.
He’ll be tasked with creating the right atmosphere for Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars franchise quarterback. He was 2-8 this past season in 10 starts.
Lawrence went 172 of 284 for 2,045 yards. He had 11 touchdown passes and seven interceptions.
Coen worked wonders this past season with the Buccaneers offense. The Buccaneers had a Top 5 offense and star quarterback Baker Mayfield had a career season.
He was hired by the Buccaneers in January 2024. Before joining the Tampa Bay offensive attack, he spent one season with the Kentucky Wildcats as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2023.
He spent the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Rams as their offensive coordinator. Late in the season, the Rams had claimed Mayfield off waivers.
Coen and head coach Sean McVay helped Mayfied get his swagger back during his short time in Los Angeles.
He also spent the 2021 at Kentucky. Coen worked for the Rams from 2018 through 2020.
Coen also worked in college football from 2010 through 2017.
