This was the only meeting between these two teams this season.
“We got caught flat-footed for sure,” Wings first-year head coach Ian Rubel said. “That’s one of my messages after the game. But yeah, they have loose balls.
“They’re smart with them all though. They have smart veteran offensive players there. Maybe that shot clock was short and they were getting good shots on that to create loose balls for themselves. So yeah, I haven’t seen the stats on those balls yet, but we can do way better in that area.”
Philadelphia had scored two straight goals with around 2 minutes left to make it 15-12. However, they ran out of gas and did not score another goal.
Wings star Joe Resetarits had three of his five goals in the second half. He scored two goals in the fourth quarter and one more in the third quarter.
Thomas McConvey and Ryan Smith led the Knighthawks with three goals apiece. McConvey had two assists, and Smith had three assists.
Ryan Lanchbury and Connor Fields had two goals each. Lanchbury had seven assists, and Fields had eight assists.
Graydon Hogg had two goals. Curtis Knight, Kyle Waters, and Matt Gilroy had one goal each. Gilroy also had two assists.
Knighthawks goaltender Ryan Hartley received the win. He allowed 12 goals and made 32 saves.
“I mean they have, that’s a team that had a lot to prove, right?” Wings player Joe Resetarits said. “They’ve been in every game they’ve been in, right? They’ve dropped a couple (of) games they should have won, so right, they’ve had a lot to prove.
“They got their backbone of their team, you know, Harley came back today and we knew that he’s gonna come out flying and, right, it just, you know, we can’t go on those skids where we don’t score within, you know, five to ten minutes, right? That was the third period and, but yeah, we gotta be better, you know, we can learn from this. You know, obviously, we didn’t play the best anywhere today, but that’s the ups and downs of this game, so we just, it’s all about how we, you know, prepare ourselves for next week at this point.”

Resetarits led the Wings with five goals. He also had three assists.
Blaze Riorden and Phil Caputo had two goals each. Riorden had two assists, and Caputo had one assist.
Holden Cattoni, Mitch Jones, and rookie Brennan O’Neill had one goal each. Cattoni had three assists, Jones had seven assists, and O’Neill had one assist.
Wings goaltender Nick Damude allowed 15 goals. He also made 48 saves.
“I think the time of possession and ground ball battle, you know, went to them,” Riorden said. “And, you know, when that happens, you’re playing an uphill game, and this league, it’s hard to play uphill. But at the end of the day, it’s a 60-minute game.
And if you don’t play 60 minutes, you know, with the talent we have, you know, you leave it up to, you know, eight penalties against the one. You know, you leave it up to ground ball battles. You leave it up to trying to come back when, you know, the time’s not on your side. And it just makes it, you know, a very difficult challenge, you know, for any team. So it starts with coming out from the open whistle on our toes and, you know, playing a full 60 minutes.”
