This is an odd move, as Butler previously said in the media that he did not want to go to Golden State. Or sign an extension with the team.
The 35-year-old Butler will join his fifth NBA team with this deal. He spent parts of the last six seasons with the Heat.
He also played for the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Butler started 25 games this season with the Heat. He averaged 17 points per game. He also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.4 blocks per contest.
According to Spotrac, Butler is making $48.7 million this season. He does have a $52.4 million player option for next season.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Brian Windhorst, Butler has agreed to a two-year, $121 million extension with the Warriors.
