Buffaloes hire Marshall Faulk as RB coach

Shortly after the Pro Football Hall of Fall Class of 2025 was announced, a former Hall of Famer found a new job. Marshall Faulk has been hired by the Colorado Buffaloes.

Faulk is joining Deion Sanders coaching staff as their new running backs coach. Gary Harrell was listed as the Buffaloes’ assistant head coach/running backs coach in 2024.

Harrell departed the team in January. He joined Sanders’ staff in December 2022 after three years with Sanders during his tenure at Jackson State.

Faulk is joining the Buffaloes staff, which now has three Pro Football Hall of Famers. In addition to Coach Prime, the team also has Warren Sapp as its Senior Quality Control Analyst (Defense).

The Buffaloes had 845 net rushing yards on the season. They had 1,234 rushing yards overall. However, they lost 389 yards for the 845 net yards on 322 carries.

The team averaged 70.4 rushing yards per game, 2.6 rushes per carry, and 15 rushing touchdowns.

Isaiah Augustave led the Buffaloes with 373 rushing yards. He also had four touchdowns.

However, after Augustave, no other back broke past 196 yards. Dallan Hayden was next with the aforementioned 196 yards on 63 carries. He also had one touchdown.

This will be Faulk’s first known coaching job. He departs the NFL Network, where he worked for a long time, to relocate to Boulder, Colorado.

The 51-year-old was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011. The former Super Bowl champion began his career with the Indianapolis Colts, where he played from 1994 through 1998.

He then moved to the St. Louis Rams, where he played from 1999 through 2005. Faulk also won the NFL MVP in 2000 with the Rams.

Faulk also was the NFL Offensive Player of the Year three times with the Rams from 1999 through 2001.

In his career, he had 12,279 rushing yards. He also had 100 rushing yards.

Faulk also had 767 receptions for 6,875 yards and 36 touchdowns.
