If he plays next season, it’ll depend on a number of factors. A torn ACL is typically a one year injury.

According to StatMuse, the Mavericks have been devastated since Christmas. Former star Luka Doncic suffered an injury on Christmas Day.

Dereck Lively suffered an injury and is out indefinitely. The team traded away Doncic.

Daniel Gafford and Anthony Davis — who was acquired for Doncic — are out indefinitely with injuries. And now Irving is sidelined with a torn ACL.

Lively, Davis, and Gafford may return in the near future.

The 32-year-old Irving had seven points in the 122-98 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday night. He played nine minutes before suffering the injury.

He was injured then decided to stay in and shoot two free throws before leaving the game.

On the season, Irving started 50 games during the 2024-25 season. He was averaging 24.7 points per game.

He was also averaging 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.
