Golfer Hovland wins the Valspar Championship

Golfer Viktor Hovland has won the Valspar Championship. He won the event at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club at Palm Harbor, Florida.

This is the first time that he has won this tournament. He won by one stroke with an 11-under-par 273.

Hovland took home $1.566 million with the win. The purse for the event was $8.7 million.

He also defeated American Justin Thomas, who was the runner-up for the event.

Hovland is the third straight non-American to get the win on the 2025 tour. Rory McIlroy won the Players Championship. Karl Vilips also won the Puerto Rico Open.

The last American to win on tour was Russell Henley, who won the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 9th.

Hovland is the first non-American to win since 2019 when Paul Casey won, also by one stroke. Casey won the 2019 event by an 8-under-par 276. In between Casey and Hovland, Americans Sam Burns (twice), Taylor Moore, and Peter Malnati won the events.

This is Hovland’s seventh win on the PGA Tour. It is his first win since he won the Tour Championship over Xander Schauffle on August 27th, 2023.

He also won the BMW Championship, the Memorial Tournament, the World Wide Technology Championship, the Mayakoba Golf Classic, and the Puerto Rico Open.
