Washington Capitals legend Alex Ovechkin made NHL history on Sunday. He scored a goal against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York.
The goal was more than just a goal. He now has 895 career goals. The goal broke a tie with “The Great One” Wayne Gretzky.

He scored the goal at 7:26 in the second period on Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin. After Ovechkin scored the power play goal, he was mobbed by his teammates.
Ovechkin tied the record on Friday night when he scored two goals against the Chicago Blackhawks.
